The Estate
In the heart of the Haut-Médoc in the commune of Saint-Sauveur-en-Médoc stands majestically the Château Peyrabon a few kilometers from Pauillac and the Gironde estuary. Spread over five hectares in the Pauillac appellation, the vines, aged around 23 years, are exclusively dedicated to the production of a unique wine: Château La Fleur Peyrabon. The oldest documents relating to the existence of the property date back to the 18th century. Today and for more than twenty years, the Bernard family has worked passionately in the service of this marvel of the Haut-Médoc with the ambition of giving birth to great wines reflecting the expression of their terroir.
The terroir
The Château Peyrabon vineyard is located on a gravelly hillside, a favorite terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon with clayey subsoils. These very well-drained soils allow for grapes of beautiful maturity thanks to the heat accumulated during the day and released throughout the night.
The grape variety
The dominant grape variety of Château La Fleur Peyrabon is Cabernet-Sauvignon, a black grape variety characteristic of the left bank of the Bordeaux region. Added to this is 36% Merlot which brings roundness and suppleness to the wine and finally Petit Verdot which gives a tannic richness and an aromatic power characterized by violet.
The wine
Density, structure and depth are the main qualities that make Château La Fleur Peyrabon a very great Pauillac wine. Its purple color displays violet reflections, the nose reveals an intense aromatic bouquet and the mouth displays a superb structure with beautifully crafted tannins. This Pauillac will be enjoyed with a roast, poultry or soft cheese.
