The Estate
Founded in 1970 and taken over by Frédéric Prain in 1982, Domaine d'Elise boasts 13.5 hectares of vineyards stretching from the highest point of the Côte de Léchet to the commune of Milly opposite Chablis. Frédéric Prain is a passionate winemaker who works the vines with care and favors later-than-average harvests in order to obtain well-ripened grapes with aromas of flowers and fruit with a distinct minerality.
The terroir
Located on a hillside overlooking the small village of Milly, the Petit Chablis vineyard of Domaine d'Elise is laid on very poor and very stony clay-limestone soil dating from the Jurassic period.
The grape variety
Chardonnay is the only grape variety used to produce Petit Chablis. This grape variety draws its uniqueness and mineral richness from the Kimmeridgian marl subsoil and gives Chablis wine its distinctive character.
The wine
Domaine d'Elise's Petit Chablis presents a beautiful, bright straw-yellow color. On the nose, notes of flowers and fruit dominate, complemented by a typically Chablis-esque minerality. This Petit Chablis is anything but small, and it pairs wonderfully with oysters, shrimp, or goat cheese.
