The Estate
Linked to the Gigondas appellation for three generations, the history of the Amadieu family began in 1929 when Pierre Amadieu decided to market bottles of wine from his 7 hectares of Gigondas vineyard. Since 1950 and following the acquisition of the Romane and La Machotte properties, the Domaine has grown from 7 to 137 hectares, making it the largest private vineyard in Gigondas.
The terroir
The terroir of this Châteauneuf-du-Pape is located on the southern left bank of the Rhône. The clay and sand soils are covered with rolled pebbles which promote the development of the vine by storing the heat of the sun during the day to release it at night.
The grape variety
Châteauneuf-du-Pape are blended wines, only 8 red grape varieties and 5 white grape varieties are authorized for the production of wines of this appellation. For this La Paillousse cuvée, the Amadieu Family has chosen to select only Grenache and Syrah.
The wine
This half-bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Paillousse from the Pierre Amadieu estate has a magnificent, intense purple color. The nose reveals delicate scents of red fruits and figs that are amplified in the mouth with aromas of blackcurrant, menthol, liquorice and garrigue. To be enjoyed with a fricassee of porcini mushrooms or game.
