The Estate
Maison Vincent Girardin is based in Meursault, Burgundy, on the Route des Grands Crus, and owes its worldwide reputation to the quality of its wines. In 1980, Vincent Girardin, who comes from a family of winemakers since the 17th century, inherited two hectares of vines from his parents and decided to produce his own wine at the age of 19. He has always been passionate about working in the vineyard, and the quality of his wines quickly gained worldwide recognition, allowing him to expand his business. In 2012, the prestigious Maison Vincent Girardin was taken over by a long-time partner: Jean-Pierre Nié, President of the Compagnie des Vins d'Autrefois in Beaune. Maison Vincent Girardin offers wines from prestigious appellations of the Côte de Beaune: Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Santenay, Savigny-Les-Beaune, Aloxe-Corton, Volnay and Pommard.
The terroir
Located in the commune of Meursault, this Meursault Vieilles Vignes comes from a blend of several plots and has two terroir characteristics: on the one hand an old Callovian limestone rock and on the other hand an Aargau marl rock.
The grape variety
Chardonnay originates from the Burgundy vineyards. It is a white grape variety that has conquered many wine-producing countries. Chardonnay has the ability to interpret each terroir that welcomes it with grace and elegance.
The wine
Meursault is one of the most renowned appellations in the world. With its brilliant golden color, the Meursault Vieilles Vignes from Maison Vincent Girardin offers pure and intense aromas of almonds and toasted hazelnuts with vegetal and mineral notes. On the palate, it's a rich wine that offers a magnificent balance between smoothness and freshness. This half-bottle of Burgundy wine will pair divinely with foie gras, blue cheese, white meat, or shellfish.
