The Estate
The Domaine Pierre Martin vineyard is located around Chavignol, a small wine-growing village in the Cher department in the Centre-Val de Loire region, also famous for its goat's cheese, Crottin de Chavignol. Now converting to organic farming, terroirs such as Monts Damnés and Culs de Beaujeu are already world-renowned.
The terroir
The vines of Sancerre Les Culs de Beaujeu from Domaine Pierre Martin are planted on hillsides on a soil of Kimmeridgian marl full of oyster fossils called "Terres Blanches". This steep terroir makes viticultural work difficult.
The grape variety
The Sauvignon Blanc grape variety produces dry white wines and its aromas are rather vegetal. In the Loire Valley, Sauvignon Blanc is vinified alone and gives powerful wines with marked acidity.
The wine
Les Culs de Beaujeu from Domaine Pierre Martin is a firm and racy wine with a personality pronounced by its famous flint notes. This white Sancerre will be the ideal friend of cold starters, shellfish or raw fish, white meats or fresh cheese.
