The Estate
In the 17th century, Château Rochet belonged to Antoinette de Guillemotes who married Etienne de Lafon. Château Rochet was thus renamed Château Lafon-Rochet. This property entered the Grands Crus Classés classification in 1855. It was in 1960 that Guy Tesseron became the owner and modernized this historic estate. This wine lover manages the property with passion and produces unique wines. Today, Basile Tesseron, Guy's grandson, has taken up the torch and it is with adoration and rigor that he works with his team to fabulously express the potential of its terroir. Château Lafon-Rochet is one of the great ambassadors of this prestigious Saint-Estèphe appellation.
The terroir
The area of the terroir is 40 hectares and the vines have an average age of 30 years. The soils composed of deep gravel and gravel on clay give the wine its finesse and specificity. This vineyard proudly represents this appellation surrounded by its prestigious neighbors such as Château Montrose and Château Cos d'Estournel.
The grape variety
The blend of the 2020 vintage is composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon then Merlot and a little Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most famous grape varieties on the planet, it is at the origin of the most expensive wines in the world. In the United States, it is so famous that a day is dedicated to it every August 30: "International Cabernet Sauvignon Day".
The wine
