The Vacqueyras terroir is terraced on the southern slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail. The soils, made up of alluvium and pebbles, give the grapes a fruitier note. Pierre Amadieu's La Grangelière offers aromas of undergrowth with hints of vanilla, followed by peppery and spicy notes. It pairs wonderfully with a leg of lamb or strong cheeses.

The Estate

Nearly 100 years of expertise for this family of passionate winemakers. The Amadieu family is constantly improving its infrastructure and inaugurated a new aging cellar built from natural stone in early 2019. A new building dedicated to order preparation was also built. In July 2019, the Domaine les Hautes Cances in Cairanne was purchased by the Amadieu family. This Cairanne appellation is very young, as it was only definitively approved on June 25, 2018.

The terroir

The Vacqueyras terroir is planted in terraces on the southern slope of the Dentelles de Montmirail. The soils are made up of alluvium and pebbles, giving the wine a fruitier character than its “big brother” Gigondas.

The grape variety

Grenache Noir is the main grape variety in the Vacqueyras appellation. It was imported from Spain in the Middle Ages to Languedoc, the Rhône Valley, and Provence. It produces full-bodied, deep wines. Syrah is a complementary grape variety; it is expressive with a beautiful aromatic richness.

The Wine

This half-bottle of Vacqueyras reveals scents of undergrowth and small red fruits, followed by some sweet notes of vanilla which evolve on the palate towards the fullness and power of peppery and spicy notes.
