What are the 2024 trends in the wine & spirits sector?

Oct 5, 2024

You've probably seen it, SoWine and Dynata have shared their barometer and here are some trends to remember in the world of wine for 2024.

Growth of online commerce

E-commerce for wine purchases continues to grow, allowing small producers to reach new markets. 55% of informed wine lovers and 75% of experts place great importance on social networks to discover new wines and new consumption methods such as the half-bottle of wine among others.

Environmentally friendly wines

Consumers are increasingly sensitive to environmental labels and prefer wines from sustainable, organic or biodynamic viticulture. The concept of terroir is being challenged by climate change.

Light and aromatic wines

There is a trend towards light red wines, intensely colored rosés, textured and aromatic whites, as well as sparkling wines. The "blouge" (light red) style is gaining popularity.

Spirits and bitter aperitifs

In the spirits field, there is a renewed interest in bitters, herbal liqueurs, digestives and bitter aperitifs.

Low or no alcohol wines

Alcohol-free or low-alcohol options, already popular for beer, are gaining ground for wine, although there is still room for improvement.

Bordeaux revival

The Bordeaux appellation is reinventing itself with lighter, fruitier wines at attractive prices, by adopting organic or biodynamic viticulture.
