The Estate
Located in the heart of the Médoc, 35 km from Bordeaux, the name Fourcas Dupré was born in 1843 when Maître Jean-Antoine Dupré acquired vines dating from the beginning of the 12th century located at the place called Fourcas, according to the cartographic works of Belleyme, under Louis XV. In 1970, the Pagès family took over the property and continued working in the vineyard with the same state of mind: meticulousness, know-how and passion. Gérard Jicquel, a Breton entrepreneur in love with Bordeaux wines, bought the estate in 2019.
The terroir
The Fourcas plateau is located between Moulis and Saint Julien and benefits from good natural drainage. The terroir of Château Fourcas Dupré is unique in the Médoc. The soils are composed of Pyrenean gravel at more than 80% and the subsoils are clayey, calcareous and clay-calcareous.
The grape variety
The main grape variety of Listrac-Médoc from Château Fourcas Dupré is Cabernet Sauvignon. This grape variety produces tannic, complex and structured wines that develop with age. Merlot is the second grape variety that makes up this wine, it has a supple and round profile, it brings a lot of color and aromas of fleshy fruits like plum. Petit Verdot brings spicy and violet notes.
