The Estate

The history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826 with the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru des Ursules plot. Today, its vineyard extends from the Côte de Nuits to the Mâconnais, and includes Grands Crus such as Clos Vougeot as well as Premiers Crus. Maison Louis Jadot has been able to develop harmoniously across all the Burgundy appellations and, in addition to being an owner, this large house has also developed the wine trade, which has earned it its worldwide reputation today.

The terroir

Located on the Route des Grands Crus, along the Côte de Nuits, the wine village of Vougeot enjoys a worldwide reputation thanks to the Grand Cru Clos Vougeot appellation. This Clos has approximately two and a half hectares of vines planted on more or less clayey limestone soil. This soil is very well drained thanks to the abundance of small pebbles.

The grape variety

The Côte de Nuits is the kingdom of Pinot Noir, the black grape with white flesh that is the source of the greatest red wines of Burgundy. This grape variety has the ability to brilliantly reproduce all the nuances of its terroir.

The wine

This Grand Cru from the Côte de Nuits has a bright and lively color. The Clos Vougeot from the prestigious Maison Louis Jadot is a reference for lovers of great Pinot Noir. It develops an exceptional aromatic intensity of red fruits, coffee and liquorice. On the palate it is ample and fleshy with very present tannins. This wine will enhance red meats or game but also cheeses.
